How I used SharePoint calendar federation in Notes 8.5
In a recent post on this blog, Jonas shared with us his team's latest progress on SharePoint calendar federation in Notes. Here is a real use case:
I have been working on our next sales meeting agenda, which takes place next week. I created a meeting workspace for our sales meeting on our SharePoint site, added a calendar web part and created all the calendar events. Naturally, I want to enable our team members to be able to see the sales meeting calendar from their Notes client calendar.
Of course, I don't want them to create their own set of events, and I don't want to be sending a static Word document with the sales agenda, as we used to do in the past. Somehow, the schedule always changes and the document rarely gets updated so it is quite useless ...
That's exactly when Calendar federation is really useful. If you are using Outlook, you can connect to Outlook from the SharePoint's calendar action. Pretty cool! For those of you who are already using Notes 8.5 and our SharePoint Integrator you can simply connect to the SharePoint calendar from the Add Calendar menu of Notes 8.5 and then you get an overlay view of your personal calendar and the sales meeting calendar, each has its own color. I have attached a screenshot:

How?
I have just been reading this blog entry, have downloaded an eval of your product, but am struggling to understand how to attach a Sharepoint calendar to Notes 8.5.
Is there a new version for 8.5, or is there some secret knowledge I just don't have ? :)
Thanks,
JP
Notes 8.5 calendar integration - coming soon
Hi JP,
Yes, you are correct. There will be a new version of the product that will provide the ability to integrate SharePoint calendars into Lotus Notes 8.5. This version is well under development here at Mainsoft, but it has not been publicly released yet. We hope to have a public beta within two or three months. I will update you as soon as it is available. In the mean time, I hope you do enjoy the many features the current version of the product does provide.
